Directorate of Academic Planning (DAP)

The Compass of Academic Excellence & Quality Assurance

The Directorate of Academic Planning is the strategic engine room of Wellspring University. We serve as the quality control hub, ensuring that the University’s vision for producing globally competitive graduates is translated into actionable academic policies, rigorous curricula, and a conducive learning environment. We act as the primary liaison between the University and the National Universities Commission (NUC), ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards while driving innovation in teaching and research.

— Director of Academic Planning

Message from the Director

"Welcome to the Directorate of Academic Planning. Our mandate is simple yet profound: to ensure that every course taught, every examination administered, and every degree awarded at Wellspring University meets global benchmarks of quality. We monitor the academic health of the institution so that our students can graduate with confidence, ready to lead in the global marketplace."

— Director of Academic Planning

Our Core Mandate

The DAP is responsible for the planning, development, and monitoring of all academic activities. Our functions are categorized into four strategic pillars:

  • NUC Accreditation: We manage the accreditation process for all undergraduate and postgraduate programs to ensure they meet the Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS) and the new Core Curriculum and Minimum Academic Standards (CCMAS).
  • Monitoring: We conduct regular classroom monitoring, lecture attendance analysis, and course content evaluation to ensure teaching effectiveness.
  • External Moderation: We coordinate the external examiner system to validate the standard of our examinations and grading.

  • Program Design: We work with faculties to design market-relevant courses (e.g., Software Engineering, International Relations) that bridge the gap between theory and industry demands.
  • Review Cycles: We periodically review existing curricula to incorporate emerging trends in technology, ethics, and entrepreneurship.

  • Academic Calendar: We architect the University’s academic calendar, ensuring a stable and predictable timeline for resumption, examinations, and convocation.
  • Staffing Analysis: We determine the academic staff-to-student ratio to ensure personalized attention and mentorship.
  • Facility Planning: We assess the adequacy of lecture halls, laboratories, and library resources to match student population growth.

  • Statistics: We maintain a robust database of student enrollment, progression rates, and graduation statistics to aid management decisions.
  • Reporting: We prepare vital reports for the University Senate, Governing Council, and Federal regulatory bodies.
