ACCESSIBILITY
Wellspring University Scholarship Trust
In 1955, under the leadership of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, the government of the Western Region of Nigeria implemented a free primary education initiative. However in 1966, this programme faced a major significant setback, following the military coup that year. Despite these challenges, the footprint of the scheme remains deeply ingrained in the history of education in Western Nigeria and throughout the nation as it impacted many lives. Today, as we navigate the complexities of the modern education landscape, the legacy of free education continues to inspire us. While strides have been made in expanding access to education, financial constraints remain a significant barrier for many talented youths aspiring to pursue higher education.
At Wellspring University, we firmly believe that education should not be a privilege reserved for a few but accessible to those who strive to make a difference in the world regardless of their financial background. This is why the Wellspring University Scholarship Trust is being birthed. Through our scholarship programmes under the scholarship trust, we seek to identify and support exceptional individuals who demonstrate outstanding academic potential, leadership qualities and a commitment to positive societal impact. We are also committed to eliminating financial discrimination and gender inequality within our school community by providing opportunities to female students, through specific scholarship programs under the scholarship trust.
