Academic Excellence Celebrated as Wellspring University Holds 13th Convocation

Wellspring University, a leading private institution in Nigeria, marked a significant milestone on Friday, October 17, 2025, with its 13th Convocation ceremony. The event was a vibrant display of pomp and pageantry, celebrating the award of first and higher degrees and the presentation of prizes to deserving candidates who had been rigorously found worthy in both character and learning.

Record-Breaking Achievements in Health Sciences

Speaking at a press conference in Benin City, the Vice Chancellor, Professor Isaac Rotimi Ajayi, proudly highlighted the university’s surging reputation, particularly in the health sciences. Professor Ajayi revealed a stellar achievement: the pioneer graduating cohorts from both the Nursing and Medical Laboratory Sciences programs attained an exceptional 100% pass rate in their respective professional examinations. He described this feat as compelling testimony to the institution’s stringent academic standards.

The Nursing program, which began with just 50 students in 2021, has seen remarkable growth, underscoring the university’s increasing capacity in critical healthcare fields.

Enrollment Surge and Graduate Breakdown

The Vice Chancellor also announced significant institutional progress made during the 2024/2025 academic session, noting that over 800 students were admitted, bringing the total enrollment figure to 2,149 students.

A total of 228 candidates were conferred with various degrees at the convocation, structured as follows:

Degree Level Number of Graduates
First Degrees 150
Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s Degrees 78
Total 228

Among the first-degree recipients, academic brilliance shone brightly:

  • First Class Honours: 79 students
  • Second Class Honours: 55 students
  • The postgraduate class breakdown further illustrated the depth of advanced studies:
  • Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD): 42
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA): 1
  • Master of Science (M.Sc.): 35

Female Student Secures Top Academic Honor

The highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of Miss Eboigbodin Sonia Uwaila, who was crowned the Best Graduating Student. From the Department of Computing (Computer Science program), Miss Uwaila achieved an outstanding Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.96.

Professor Ajayi noted the significance of her win, emphasizing the healthy academic competition between genders at Wellspring University: “Unlike last year when the honour went to a male student, this year, a female student has reclaimed the prize—underscoring the healthy academic competition between genders at Wellspring University.”

The convocation ceremony cements Wellspring University’s position as a bastion of academic excellence and character development, producing high-calibre professionals ready to make a profound impact globally.
