The Department of Nursing Science offers a 5 year degree programme covering three (3) core areas: Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health. It seeks to produce highly skilled, knowledgeable and critical thinking graduate nurses with competencies in performing evidence- based nursing functions in various settings and therapeutically assist the individual, family and community from diverse backgrounds and cultures with varied health problems to carry out activities that promote and restore health; prevent and control diseases.
The department is currently accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
Meet the Department Head
Mrs. ATSIKIDI Gloria Airemiogho is a Lecturer I and acting Head of Department, Nursing Science, College of Health Sciences, Wellspring University Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. She is a Nurse and Educator with vast experience that transcends Nursing Education, Public Administration, Health Management, Clinical Nursing and a specialist Otorhinolaryngology Nurse Practitioner.
She holds BNSc in Nursing and BSc. in Public Administration with a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) from the now Biaka University, Buea, SW Cameroon and the prestigious University of Benin, Benin City. She also has three (3) MSCs in Health Management and Planning (UNIBEN), Nursing Education and Nursing Science (St.Monica University, Liongo, SW Cameroon and a PhD in view. She is a good writer with a number of journal articles published both locally and internationally. She is a Resource person/Facilitator to London Professional Training Centre, and has attended conferences where she presents papers.
Nr. Atsikidi is also a home builder with a talk show on EBS Radio and Television; “Health and You” on NTA; and an advocate for keeping the ear healthy for healthy hearing; and has a vision to establish training modules for prospective Ear, Nose and Throat Nurse Practitioners at Postgraduate level to fill the gap between healthy hearing and the society
