About

The Department of Information Technology and Cyber Security was established in 2020/2021 academic year, following the approval of the programmes in 2020 by the National Universities Commission (NUC).  

    These programmes are meant to train the students in the theory and application of each programme. As a result, it emphasizes the importance of the underlying theory of various branches of Information Technology and Cyber Security and provides students with a broad range of application areas.

     

     

    Meet the Department Head

    Mrs. Tosin Comfort Olayinka is the Acting Head, Department of Information Technology and Cyber Security, Wellspring University Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. 

    She holds M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Benson Idahosa University, Benin City where she emerged as the first overall best graduating of her class. She has B.Sc. (First Class honours) in Computer Science and HND (Distinction) in Statistics from Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji Arakeji, Osun State and Federal Polytechnic Ede, respectively. As a high flier, she has so many awards to her credit which include, the recipient of the Best Poster Award (Third Place) at 2nd International Conference and Exhibition of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), FUTA 2015.

    She is a member of several professional organisations which include Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Computer Professional Network (CPN), Development Studies Association (DSA), OWSD at local, national and international levels. Her research interest is in the application of machine learning techniques to address various societal needs in areas of agriculture, health care, food security e.t.c.
