Mr Daniel Chiegile Isimoya

Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council

Daniel Chiegile Isimoya, B.Sc. (Economics), M.Sc. (Finance), is the Pro-Chancellor of Wellspring University. A teacher, who has been in the education sector all his life, had taught at Edo College, Benin City and at Lagos Polytechnic, Lagos, where he left to join the academic staff of the University of Lagos, Lagos.  The drive to put his creative and entrepreneurial skills to productive use led to his resignation from the University of Lagos to establish Management Science Centre in 1983 to provide supplementary lectures to the part-time degree students of the then Correspondence and Open Studies Institute (now Distant Learning Institute) of the University of Lagos. Under his watch, the Centre collaborated with Auchi Polytechnic in 1993 for certificate courses and the University of Ibadan in 1995 to run Diploma courses as well as Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, in the running of AAU’s former Lagos Satellite Campus.

The AAU Satellite Campus, which was a joint venture between the Centre and Ambrose Alli University between 1995 and 2003, ran the bachelor’s and master’s degree courses. AAU Satellite Campus was the foremost in the country, complete with facilities that satisfied the accreditation requirements of NUC in 1999, before the general ban on satellite campuses in the country. Against the background of more than thirty years of experience in this subsector, it is safe to posit that the provision of tertiary education services has been the Centre’s core area of operation and competence.

As the Founder/Pioneer Chief Executive Officer of the Centre, he is credited with its steady growth from a humble beginning to the status of a flourishing tutorial Centre and promoter of three academic institutions
