Solomon E. Effiong, Ph.D is a lecturer in the Department of Economics. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics (B. Sc. 1997, UNIUYO), Masters in Business Administration (MBA-2005, UNIBEN), Masters of Science in Economics (M.sc 2014, Benson Idahosa University) and Doctorate of Philosophy in Economics (University of Benin) majoring in International Trade and Finance and Development Economics.
Dr. Effiong has extensive working experience in the Nigerian Banking Industry that spans over 16 years, having worked with the legacy United Bank for Africa Plc and Standard Trust Bank Plc as Branch Operations Manager (6 years); UBA Plc as Branch Manager (8 Years), and Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc for 2 years as the Regional Relationship Manager, Commercial Banking Division. His banking experience cuts across Customer Service, Operations and Control, Business Development and Relationship Management. He resigned his last appointment with Stanbic IBTC Bank to pursue academic interest.
Presently, Dr. Effiong lectures International Economics, Advanced Micro & Macroeconomics, Mathematical Economics and Statistics (at the Post-Graduate and Undergraduate levels) in Wellspring University, Benin. He combines lecturing assignment with other administrative responsibilities, serving Wellspring University as the Ag. Program Director, school of Basic Studies and Director of Academic Planning, respectively. Dr. Effiong has eight (8) scholarly publications in both local and International journals.
Solo is an outgoing person who enjoys travelling, reading, meeting new people. He delights using his spare time to teach mathematics to young people who find challenges with the subject and helping start-ups business to thrive. He is happily married to Victoria and they are blessed with 4 children.
