ONE-DAY CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP

Wellspring Research Office Organized a one-day capacity building workshop for the Academic staff on 12th May, 2022. The Ag. Director Office of Research, Linkages and International Collaboration (ORLIC), Dr. J. Okolie-Osemene welcomed all the academic staff to the workshop and reminded them that the Vice-Chancellor listed human resource development as one of his priorities. The workshop was chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac R. Ajayi, FNIP who also presented a paper on “The Academic Profession in the 21st Century”, while Dr. James Okolie-Osemene spoke on “Establishing and sustaining effective academic and professional networks”. Guest Lecturers who presented papers include Dr. Odigwe Nwaokocha who presented a paper on “Research Ethics and Publishing in high impact journals”; Dr. Daniel Iweze spoke on “Writing award winning research proposals for grants”, while Mr. Olumuyiwa Moses Desmennu from University of Kentucky, USA presented  paper on “Finding Funding for your Research”. The workshop was attended by the Management staff, Deans of Colleges and Directors and other Academic and Senior Non-Academic Staff of the University.

During the workshop, a guest of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isi IKHUORIA announced an offer of research grant opportunity for the academic Staff of Wellspring University to enable them compete with a research proposal on 2023 general elections in Nigeria. Most of the participants indicated interest to send their proposals to win the cash prize.
