We are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. 

The department offers a degree programme leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science (Information Technology).

This degree programme is designed to prepare students both theoretically and practically giving them with the required and necessary set of skills needed in today’s IT industries. Core of the course is designing where students are trained the act of programming and software development. The other components are testing and deployment of developed applications. Information Technology is an evolving field with dynamically changing roles in the computing industry. Emphasis is placed on creativity, this is because of the dynamic nature and demand of the course. Our students are equipped with right tools that keeps them in focus with the changing world of computing. The students are prepared to be synchronous with the entire application development cycle, use and eye-for-details skills using the computer systems. Our graduates are competent to function in the following capacities: Web developer, Software Systems Analyst, Software engineer, Information Security Analyst, Cyber Engineer, Computer Programmer to mention but a few.



Admission Requirements

Admission into this programme would be by University Matriculation Examination (UME) and Direct Entry modes.

University Matriculation Examination (UME)

In addition to an acceptable pass in UME, candidate seeking admission must have not less than ordinary level credit passes in at least five (5) SSCE /GCE, SSCE /NECO (or acceptable equivalents) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects at not more than two sittings from Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Economics and Further Mathematics. Candidates are, in addition, required to submit themselves for a written examination and oral interview before admission is finally offered to deserving candidates.

Direct Entry

Candidates seeking direct entry admission must in addition to satisfying the University matriculation requirements, possess:

A minimum of two Advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its recognized equivalent qualifications at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics and any other science subjects.

At least a credit pass in Diploma from a recognized institution in Data Processing, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related disciplines.

Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least Credit level pass in Mathematics and any other science subject from a recognized College of Education. In addition, Candidates should have at least an overall Merit pass.
