Cyber Security

We are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. 

The department offers a degree programme leading to the award of the Bachelor of Science (Cyber security).

With the ever-increasing integration of technology into our lives—including mobile networks, Wi-Fi and cloud computing applications—there is more need to make sure that those technologies are secured from criminals. As a result, the field of cyber security is growing at a rapid pace.

This degree programme provide a direct route to cybersecurity careers. Students are taught to identify, evaluate, and defend against threats and attacks on networks, data, and information systems.

We expose our students to areas such as cybersecurity analysis, digital forensics, systems security, network security, and cloud computing. Each of these fields features its own technologies, threats, and security measures.



Admission Requirements

Admission into this programme would be by University Matriculation Examination (UME) and Direct Entry modes.

University Matriculation Examination (UME)

In addition to an acceptable pass in UME, candidate seeking admission must have not less than ordinary level credit passes in at least five (5) SSCE /GCE, SSCE /NECO (or acceptable equivalents) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects at not more than two sittings from Agricultural Science, Biology, Chemistry, Geography, Economics and Further Mathematics. Candidates are, in addition, required to submit themselves for a written examination and oral interview before admission is finally offered to deserving candidates.

Direct Entry

Candidates seeking direct entry admission must in addition to satisfying the University matriculation requirements, possess:

A minimum of two Advanced level passes in the General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its recognized equivalent qualifications at not more than two sittings. The subjects should include Mathematics and any other science subjects.

At least a credit pass in Diploma from a recognized institution in Data Processing, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related disciplines.

Nigeria Certificate of Education (NCE) with at least Credit level pass in Mathematics and any other science subject from a recognized College of Education. In addition, Candidates should have at least an overall Merit pass.
