Thomas Inomisan Ofuya is a Nigerian, who was 60 years old on November 4, 2014. He hails from Ikoro, an Ijaw village in Edo State. His highest educational attainment is the Ph.D degree in Plant Science with specialization in Crop Entomology, obtained in 1984 at the University of Ife, Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University). His postdoctoral working career spanning 30 years has been in the University system especially at The Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) where he rose to the rank of Full Professor in 1999. His main duties have been Teaching, Research, Administration and Community Service including Consultancy. He has been teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses. His researches have led to the publication of over 120 papers in journals of international repute. He has thus far successfully supervised 32 M. Agric. Tech. dissertations and 19 Ph.D. theses. He has attended and presented papers in many international and local conferences. He has postdoctoral overseas research experience in Germany, United Kingdom and India made possible by prestigious research awards that he obtained at different times. In 1998, he won the IFS/DANIDA Award for African Agricultural Researchers given for impressive publication record and international recognition and collaborations. He also won The Most Outstanding Researcher in Agriculture in FUTA during 1999/2000.
Prof. Ofuya has superb interpersonal skills, and is amiable, affable and a great team player and servant leader. He is emotionally and physically very fit, and likes Christian fellowship, reading and travelling. He enjoys the goodwill of God and persons.
Prof. Ofuya envisions Wellspring University, Benin City (WUB) as being a unique higher institution of excellence, highly esteemed nationally and internationally. His mission is to take WUB to a higher level of excellence in all ramifications. This he plans to achieve by unprecedented commitment and dedication to advancement of the University by the grace of the Almighty God.
